How Doth the Busy Bee Plate, and 1870-90
Couldn't load pickup availability
Antique transfer printed saucer showing a couple near some beehives with lines from Isaac Watts’ 1751 poem “How doth the little busy bee” (some errors in the printing make it tough to read):
How doth the little busy bee
Improve each shining hour,
And gather honey all the day
From every opening flower!
A lovely sentiment, but what really makes this is the sheer look of horror on the couples face, as if they’ve been attacked or are about to be.
