Lovely cartoon by novelist John Updike. He spent many years as a cartoonist for the Harvard Lampoon. I believe the visual joke is someone making the perfect cup of coffee…? As he pours coffee or milk from one carafe the scale raises the sugar which he pours into his coffee and so on.
